01

Are Plastisol transfers the same as digital transfers

No, Plastisol transfers are screen printed, digital transfers are inkjet or laser printed. This means that digital transfers have very thin ink films printed onto a solid white sheet (for dark garments) or solid clear sheet (for light garments). Plastisol transfers are printed with heavy ink deposits on a plain release paper and only the design is printed, so there is no clear or white rectangle left on the shirt.

02

How do Plastisol transfers wash

If washed using a 40 degree wash cycle and warm tumble dried (as per instructions on most garments) then Plastisol prints will last for a long time, we have customers who come back for workwear reprints each year wearing the garments we printed for them the previous year. One notable one being a tree surgeon whose garments are abused during normal work and the prints are still in good condition.

03

What fabrics can I use plastisols on

Graphiplas transfers can be used on vitually any fabric with the exception of nylons and other similar fabrics.

We have applied them to knitted gloves, heavyweight table cloths, tote bags, woven shoe linings, light weight pilot shirts and many more items over the past 32 years.

Graphisplit transfers can be used on lighter coloured woven fabrics but are not ideal for heavily textured fabrics such as pique polo shirts, they provide a very cost effective way of decorating hi vis safety waist coats.

04

What are the major benefits of Plastisol transfers

A major benefit is in the cost savings over direct garment printing. You only need to invest in printed transfers which only need to be applied once you have made a sale as opposed to printed garments which tie up your capital and may remain unsold for a long time.

Other benefits are.... flexibility to apply to many different garment types, the ability to hold very fine detail, the ability to be printed to exact colour matches using the PANTONE colour matching system and the availability of metallic, dayglo and other speciality inks.

05

Can I make Graphiplas transfers have a matt finish

Yes, GRAPHIPLAS transfers have a naturally semi gloss finish mirroring the surface of the release paper it is printed on, a short second fuse with a matt non stick surface such as baking paper with convert the glossy finish to a matt one and also drive the transfer into the fabric making it tougher and even longer lasting.

GRAPHISPLIT transfers have a naturally soft matt finish and are indistinguishable from fine direct prints.
